Equity Admission
Equity admission recognizes students from diverse backgrounds including but not limited to:
- Indigenous students (First Nations, Inuit, Metis)
- Persons from racialized groups
- Sexually and gender varied people
- Persons with disabilities
Equity admission reserves a percentage or additional number of seats per cohort to students who self-identify as one of the above.
Application process
- You must meet all of the admission requirements for application to be considered
- Your application is reviewed with all program applicants
- If you are not successfully admitted through initial admission process your application will be reviewed again and will compete with equity admission applicants only
- Successful applicants will be offered a reserved seat
Competitive programs that offer equity admission
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing: 8 seats or 10 percent (specific to students who self-identify as Indigenous)
- Bachelor of Social Work: 15 seats or 25 percent
- Bachelor of Education: 10 perent of cohort intake (cohort number varies each year but averages 30 students)
Faculty of Law Indigenous applicants:
The Faculty of Law provides both a special consideration applicant process and Indigenous applicant process. Both processes will consider various factors that may have impacted a student’s application: special needs, financial disadvantage, age, membership in a historically disadvantaged group, etc.
