James is a Partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency group at Miller Thomson LLP in Calgary. James' practice includes advising clients in reorganizations, corporate arrangements, receiverships, bankruptcies, security reviews and enforcement proceedings. James frequently represents secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, purchasers and court officers in domestic and cross-border cases.

James is Vice President and Treasurer of the Insolvency Section of the Canada Bar Association (Alberta South Chapter) and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, Risk Management Association and Law Society of Alberta.
