TRU graduate admissions.

Students will work with their supervisor to determine progress options that best meet their needs. Students have up to five years to complete the program. Domestic students will have the ability to take a Leave of Absence in extenuating circumstances. International students must be enrolled in six credits per semester.

All core courses are offered synchronously online. Students may enroll in on-campus or online electives.

TRU offers online or on-campus statistics courses. Registration is ongoing, and the courses are self-paced. Alternative undergraduate statistics courses, including those with a health or social science focus, are available. Examples of these courses are STAT 1201 (or 1200) or PSYC 2101 (or 2100). Please email masterofnursing@tru.ca if you have questions about the eligibility of a specific course.

You can submit your application before completing these courses. Acceptance to the program will be conditional on completing the admission requirements before the MN program starts.

All students are required to provide verification of registration as an active practising nurse from the regulatory body of the jurisdiction where you live.

Students wishing to obtain work as an RN in Canada are responsible for completing the registration process with BCCNM (or other province). Students cannot call themselves an RN or practice as an RN in BC unless they are registered with BCCNM. However, completed Canadian registration is not a requirement of enrolling in or graduating from the MN.

International students who graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing degree (or equivalent) with valid licensure are eligible to apply.

Classroom hours of instruction will vary depending on student status (full or part time) and selected progress options. Each 3-credit course is scheduled for 3 hours of synchronous class time per week. Some courses will offer alternate delivery schedules with weekend intensive or 6-week condensed schedules.

The option may exist to complete either an alternative (non-internship) elective or to find a placement that does not require RN status. Both require prior approval of the student’s supervisor and the Dean.

We welcome applications from RPNs who have a baccalaureate degree in psychiatric nursing.
