Smoking and Vaping
To provide a safe and healthy workplace and learning environment for the TRU community, tobacco smoking (including vaping) is only permitted in designated smoking areas.
Map of designated smoking areasRevised policy on alcohol, cannabis and tobacco
Cannabis is now legal in Canada. At TRU campuses, however, non-medicinal (recreational) use of cannabis remains prohibited. This includes student residences. There are exceptions in TRU's policy for those who require medicinal cannabis as authorized by a doctor, and the use of cannabis for teaching or research purposes with prior written university approval. TRU took into account varying perspectives when drafting this policy, with a focus on creating a safe and healthy campus environment for everyone—one where we can learn, teach and work at our best.
