About Tania
Tania Gottschalk has over 30 years of experience working in academic libraries in Canada and the United States. She joined TRU as its inaugural Associate University Librarian in May 2020, sharing accountability for the library’s academic mission, strategic direction and vision, and leading operational planning. From 2021 to 2024 she served as the Interim University Librarian. She was appointed University Librarian in May of 2024.
Before working at TRU, she was head of the Sciences and Technology Libraries at the University of Manitoba from 2018 to 2020. From 1997 to 2018, Tania worked in a variety of roles in the University of Manitoba’s Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library supporting the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Medical Rehabilitation, and Pharmacy as well as health care professionals within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and area hospitals. She has also held positions at the University of Idaho and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She has extensive experience in researching the health sciences literature and has participated on numerous systematic review teams. For research and service, most recently, she has been serving on a working group of the Impact Committee of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries developing an impact framework based on logic model theory for use in and by research libraries. The article she wrote with colleagues on the framework was awarded the 2023 Paper of the Year by the Partnership editorial team.
