Welcome to the TRU alumni community. As a new graduate, you are joining a diverse family that spans generations and continents. You are joining a 50+ year legacy that began humbly with Cariboo College in Kamloops, B.C., and has grown into a global network of friends, mentors and colleagues that are cheering you on–today and always.
Community matters, and you are part of ours. This is only the beginning. As you embark on your next chapter, whatever that may be, we want to tell the story of your success so fellow alumni can stay connected with you and current TRU students can be inspired by your example.
Being part of this community has benefits. More than 100,000 TRU alumni can be found around the globe in 115 countries. In the past year, we’ve gathered across Canada with AlumNights, socials, speaker series and celebrations. We plan to do even more this year with our first international AlumNight in Mexico City and encourage you to make connections that will serve you well for years to come. Your fellow alumni can offer advice, friendship and networking. They have made the transition out of university, may have changed careers, embarked on new studies or even started a business. We encourage you to learn from one another.
Stay connected to your peers through TRU Alumni, which co-ordinates events, services and benefits that you are entitled to for life. Learn all about our activities on the TRU Alumni Network Portal.
You will always be part of this community. We are thrilled to welcome you.
You are TRU alumni for life.
Congratulations, graduates, on achieving this life-changing milestone.
Today, TRU Giving, which encompasses the TRU Foundation and Advancement department, celebrates your current and future success, and we are excited to witness the positive impact you will undoubtedly make in your respective fields and communities.
Most importantly, we celebrate your happiness. We know your TRU education will take you far and help you become the best possible version of yourself. As you move forward on your next journey, reflect on the hurdles you overcame. Remember everyone who has supported you and had an impact on your life. As cliché as it sounds, we hope you find ways of making the world a better place.
The TRU Foundation was created to help students overcome some of the obstacles they face in pursuit of education. For over 30 years, the Foundation has been managing funds raised in support of TRU students. With generosity from thousands of donors, TRU Giving provides financial support and scholarships to more than 1,300 students every year, and funds initiatives and projects to enhance the educational experience at the university.
Generations of TRU alumni have charitably supported higher education and we are immensely grateful for their involvement. In recent years, alumni have stepped up to create endowments, fund annual awards and support events such as TRU Day of Giving. One day down the road, we hope you consider students when making decisions about your own charitable giving. Helping students reach for their dreams is rewarding and no gift is too small to make a difference.
Even if you aren’t in a position to give financially, there are opportunities to give your time by volunteering at TRU Giving events — where you can see philanthropy in action.
Congratulations once again and best wishes for a bright and fulfilling future!
